Marlins/Blue Jays trade - Buerhle, Johnson, Escobar and more

Postby BCVM22 » Tue Nov 13, 2012 5:23 pm

Right now we know Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle are going to Toronto with Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria as part of the return. The inclusion of Jose Reyes is rumored but unconfirmed.

If this were us, I'd wait at LEAST another day or two before I took it seriously and got either happy or mad.

Jeeez. That poor, poor Marlins fan.

Seriously, though. Gotta wait to see the full details but I would think Johnson and Buehrle are worth more than that.

Also, Jeff Loria should be tarred and feathered.

Jon Morosi @jonmorosi
One source told me Johnson, Buehrle, Reyes, Buck and Bonifacio are all going to #BlueJays. I am working to confirm this. @MLBONFOX

The important thing to the Marlins was dumping 62M in contract commitments. (158M if Reyes is included)

At least we know we we'll avoid the worst record in the NL again.

Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN
The Blue Jays-Marlins trade is done... This is going to be one of the all-timers, with Reyes, Johnson, Bonifacio, Buck, Buehrle...holy crow.

I'm pretty sure the Marlins are now LoMo, Stanton, and several used gloves.

The Blue Jays are getting at least Marisnick, Alvarez, Nicolino, Escobar, and Hecchevarria.

The Marlins were so good that the Jays couldn't resist taking on half of their starting squad.

I figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and leave 2 of the top 9 on there since they haven't declined the option yet(they totally are though).

Toronto went with the one stop shop approach this offseason. AA must want a few months off.
