The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didn't exist.

There was a guy on the old Usenet rec.sport.baseball who got some of the early sabr guys to waste hours arguing with him over whether Pete Rose was the greatest hitter of all-time by definition because it is called hitting and he had the most hits.

i'd say if we're trying to determine who the best hitter was, wRC+ would be the way to go.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess. I'd go wRC+.

I voted Rizzo but I'm on record of predicting he and Bryant - in true bromance fashion - will share the same amazing wRC+

Same with Rizzo having his best year to date topping .300/.400. Bryant hits more HRs and runs better.

Bryant's relative speed artificially beefs up his hitting stats so if we're judging who will be the best purely within the batter's box, it's probably Rizzo with an outside chance of Schwarber

i know that's not exactly the question, but a worthwhile distinction to make nonetheless

Bryant, after he combines his minor league opposite field ability and last year's K rate.

I think we'll look back at 2017 as Rizzo's offensive peak. Bryant will probably take a minor step back.
