The Rays had a really good draft by getting perhaps the two most talented LHPs in the draft in McClanahan and Liberatore.

Holy Hell at Carter Stewart likely passing up over 4 million to sign with Mississippi State...and JT Ginn too. Nice haul for Mississippi State to get two first rounders.

I'm optimistic about Hoglund passing on the Pirates and showing up at Ole Miss. Guess I'll know shortly.

Hoglund's senior stats are just stupid btw. 52 innings, 0.27 ERA, 105k's and 2 walks.

I can’t believe how many pitchers are passing up 7 figures when we all know how iffy pitcher’s health is. For every Gerrit Cole, there’s a Karsten Whitson horror story.

Totally. It's one thing for a hitter to gamble on themselves, but a pitcher? Take that money now.

Stewart's wrist injury complicated things with him. The Braves offered at least 40% of slot, but they definitely were undercutting him. Still, not sure how you pass it up.

Additional rule: you have to have one or the other. The only exception is you have an amazing board name. davell, I'm looking at you; put up a [expletive] avatar or something if your name only sounds like somebody tried say Dave as they lapsed into a coma.

40% under slot still would have been like 2 million or something like that. Crazy.

I’ve heard that with Hoglund a big factor with him is that he apparently comes from money, so I guess it’s easier to say no with those family circumstances.

I heard the Braves offered a $4 mil bonus a while back, but Carter and his agent wanted the full slot value. Wrist injuries aren't typically big issues for pitchers and are more worrisome for hitters (takes away power and can be a chronic problem). I don't understand why the Braves didn't offer the full value. If his elbow and shoulder area look fine then you shouldn't really haggle over other stuff.

Anthopoulos has a reputation of doing this now - he didn’t sign first rounders Tyler Beede in 2011 or Phil Bickford in 2013.

Yeah, I'd imagine him and Greindl also got 100k+.
