Couple more signings:

Bailey Reid:
https://athletics.westmont.edu/sports/b ... -reid/7722

in 2019+20, Reid had: 22.1 IP, four singles allowed, two doubles allowed, 1 run, 0 earned runs and 43 k
(and 16 walks)

Reid is a senior sign out of a 4yr college.

Jacob Wetzel:
http://fccathletics.com/sports/bsb/2018 ... jacob_ommj

Wetzel just crushed at that community college. A .377/.510/.667 is really good at any level of competition.
Plus he struck out 16.2 batters per nine innings as a reliever. So I'm guessing he's got a plus arm in the OF
And he hit six dongs and stole 14 bases (2 cs)

Wetzel is a freshman sign out of a CC.

Both seem like nice gets.

Most interesting thing I saw from the Wetzel signing: “Instructional league in August or early September”

Mildly curious how high on the radar some of these guys were and where they would've gone in a longer draft.

Law’s write up on Little sounds like like tall Justin Wilson as a high end outcome

Luke Little (4) became internet famous for supposedly throwing 105 mph in an indoor workout during the shutdown, but he’s really just a mid-90s guy with below-average command and control. It’s more interesting that he’s 6-8, which could be an advantage since it’s an unusual look, although very few pitchers have been able to start with that size.

Looks like Sam Thoresen, a junior RHP from U of Minnesota, signed.

Looks like another one of the big stuff, terrible command/control types that have been added to the system. Get that arm in the pitching lab and see if something can be done.

The Royals have signed 6 NDFAs - 5 are top 500 prospects in BA's ranking and the 6th was in their top 20 NDFA seniors.

I guess it pays to promise to pay minor leaguers for the rest of the season.

I just noticed that Brennen Davis and Nico Hoerner have played 176 games in the ~3 possible combined seasons between them. They have 176 pro games on Ed Howard! That's it! Development!

In my head there is real a shot Howard is pushing the MLs 176 games in

Alec Burlson was rumored by BA to be connected to the Cubs, but he was drafted by StL in the supplemental 2nd round. He signed with the Cardinals for approx Cubs 3rd round slot value ($678,600).

Quite happy that it played out that way. Nwogu is a much more interesting prospect to me; assuming he takes slot.

I'm also happy they skipped on Burlson. Cardinals top heavy draft with Walker, Wynn, and Hence makes a low upside pick like Burlson fit in a little better...Not sure they got to make enough picks those Cardinals got to make enough picks

He was my least favorite pick of the draft, but I understand taking him because he'd take less than slot. If everything goes just right, what's his comp? Lyle Overbay?

I''m with you. I'd rather the Cardinals not be gifted a comp pick every year, but, if the decision is Nwogo vs. Burleson then I prefer the upside of Nwogo. I am very excited to see what he does after some time with the hitting team.

Sounds fair? Honestly he's a guy I dismissed as boring during the draft but comes up after the draft because he wasn't bad just not my preference

I'm not familiar with Sam Thoreson, but he seems promising and maybe the Pitch Lab helps him.

The Cubs were another club with a draft class that drew industrywide praise. SS Howard is a solid value with big upside and could have gone a good bit ahead of 16th overall with a strong spring. LHP Carraway will be in the big leagues quickly as a ready-made, one-inning lefty with a 70 fastball and 60 curveball. LF Nwogu needs some refinement but has big raw power, while LHP Little is huge and hits 100-plus but needs more refinement. RHP Moreno is a prototypical-projection prep righty with solid average now stuff.

Nothing new in here. I'm glad this draft class has drawn industrywide praise, according to Kiley. We definitely targeted high-upside types this year and that normally draws praise from the industry when you do that. I like this draft class too.

Shame it was only 5 rounds...

I hate Dayton Moore, but I really like Rany Jazayerli so I'm happy for the Royals.

Decided to check his twitter account:

Huh, I've never heard that one before... that seems apocryphal for sure.

Yeah, I love Asa Lacy but I would easily take Austin Martin over him. Pitching prospects will break your heart and even the best ones get hurt and/or bust (Mark Appel). I prefer the Cubs' philosophy of taking advanced bats at the top of the draft.
