Inspired by Alan Sepinwall http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan- ... s-favorite

The main rule: don't rattle off a list of your 2-3 favorite episodes. Pick 1 and only 1 and defend it.

Much Apu about nothing. Because it is as relevant in this age of tax-loathing, xenophobic tea-partiers than it was then.

And because I like the idea of baseball teams being referred to as squadrons.

That was going to be my answer, except I was going to be lazy and not look up the actual name. (I'm sorry for whatever emotional pain this causes anyone who agrees).

Do you realize how impossible this is? Season 6 (I say that because I put that season on this past week) alone is TV gold, and there's a period between seasons 4-8 where it's the best TV show in history, period. Better than The Wire even.

Anyway...I'll give this a show knowing that someone will post something right after this, I'll remember everything about that episode, and then I'll start thinking it should have been that episode.

Throwaway: The first episode I saw was Bart the General from Season 1. Back when I saw it it was in a time without DVDs or DVRs, so there was a long gap between my first viewing of the episode and the second viewing. I caught it back in the early days of syndication with FOX, so maybe the mid-late 90's. Anyway, I kept watching the show because I really liked everything about that episode and I really wanted to see it again. I was a little brown bully magnet as a kid (OK, better off than that, but I was not a fighter as a lad or even now I guess) so I probably just really got into the idea of turning the tides on the bullies like that. Plus, Grandpa Simpson and Herman are underrated characters.

Great quotes...:

Nelson's "you made me bleed my own blood" was the first time I heard that joke, and I lawl'd.

Skinner's "no no he'll get you after school...now scoot young Simpson there's learning afoot" as he rushes the kids back into class.

The whole code of the Schoolyard and Family Jewels thing...

The angry Letter Grandpa was penning to someone:

Quote:
Grampa: [writing] I am disgusted with the way old people are depicted on television. We are not all vibrant, fun-loving sex maniacs. Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals, who remember the good old days, when entertainment was bland and inoffensive.

Herman's answer to Bart asking him how he lost his arm. Listen to you teacher next time she tells you to stop putting your arm outside the window...

Herman: Strategy. Hmm. How many men do you have?
Bart: None.
Herman: You'll need more.

Knew it...You Only Move Twice is [expletive] great. Everything about that episode...There's no way anyone can pick just one Simpsons episode. The one I listed is there for sentimental reasons...[expletive] I laughed my ass off at Homer the Clown, Bart vs. Australia, Itchy and Scratchy Land, Bart after Dark, Twisted World of Marge Simpson, the Poochie episode....there's too many...that list is from two separate seasons and I didn't get all of them from those seasons.

Gotta go with Homer's Enemy aka the Frank Grimes episode--darkest episode of The Simpsons ever.

Gotta go with the Monorail episode. That episode and season was amazing. I believe around then they were produced by Conan o' Brian. Everything after season 10 is terrible, repetitive and not funny at all. Back then is when it was the original and funny and had so many classic one liners and moments.

Weekend at Burnsie's was Season 13, and it's amazing

Dont get me wrong, there's a couple good ones after season 10. Just 1-10 are epic classics that will always be remembered. I probably seen the Burnsies one, I'm gonna have to check it out to refresh my memory. I'm guessing that one is from the early 2000's?

It's the medical marijuana one, where Homer gets pot after crows peck his eyes
