Do you realize how impossible this is? Season 6 (I say that because I put that season on this past week) alone is TV gold, and there's a period between seasons 4-8 where it's the best TV show in history, period. Better than The Wire even.
Anyway...I'll give this a show knowing that someone will post something right after this, I'll remember everything about that episode, and then I'll start thinking it should have been that episode.
Throwaway: The first episode I saw was Bart the General from Season 1. Back when I saw it it was in a time without DVDs or DVRs, so there was a long gap between my first viewing of the episode and the second viewing. I caught it back in the early days of syndication with FOX, so maybe the mid-late 90's. Anyway, I kept watching the show because I really liked everything about that episode and I really wanted to see it again. I was a little brown bully magnet as a kid (OK, better off than that, but I was not a fighter as a lad or even now I guess) so I probably just really got into the idea of turning the tides on the bullies like that. Plus, Grandpa Simpson and Herman are underrated characters.
Great quotes...:
Nelson's "you made me bleed my own blood" was the first time I heard that joke, and I lawl'd.
Skinner's "no no he'll get you after school...now scoot young Simpson there's learning afoot" as he rushes the kids back into class.
The whole code of the Schoolyard and Family Jewels thing...
The angry Letter Grandpa was penning to someone:
Quote:
Grampa: [writing] I am disgusted with the way old people are depicted on television. We are not all vibrant, fun-loving sex maniacs. Many of us are bitter, resentful individuals, who remember the good old days, when entertainment was bland and inoffensive.
Herman's answer to Bart asking him how he lost his arm. Listen to you teacher next time she tells you to stop putting your arm outside the window...
Herman: Strategy. Hmm. How many men do you have?
Bart: None.
Herman: You'll need more.
