I believe the Dodgers played an exhibition game in LA Coliseum a few years ago. That's when the pic was taken.

Be careful, they're gonna start asking for compensation.

The renovated Cell is much nicer than it used to be. Still has lots of issues, but I enjoy watching a few games a year there.

Old Yankee Stadium was a mess. That upper deck was scary.

Both the early Cell and old Yankee Stadium were terrifying at the top, but Comiskey was pretty [expletive] up along those lines, too. Memorial Stadium in Baltimore also induced similar vertigo in a young me.

The renderings made it look awful -- this actually looks ok.

This is the wrong thread for this project but since it's close and you already posted that...

How could you tell? It's just scaffolding and plastic.

Well it's to scale and in actual perspective, for one...

I guess it looks OK if you were anticipating a greenhouse.

Theres a crapload of people around Wrigley tonight, and the lights are all on, and they are bringing lots of stuff inside the park. I thought maybe they were installing the LCD tonight, but they are actually filming a commercial I guess.

I know, cool story.

Part of what makes Wrigley beautiful is it's symmetrism (not a word). I don't mind the new LED board and seats, I just hope they add it to left field as well.

1). Symmetry

2). It's not and never has been symmetrical.

Exactly. Wrigley is one of the lest symmetrical ballparks in the majors. And that's definitely part of its charm.

that's just totally random to me. the symmetry or lack thereof? i'm pretty sure, if we're talking measured dimensions, stadiums where the lf/lc and rf/rc are the same are very rare. and even when they're close, we're talking different angles and wall heights to take into consideration. especially all of the newer, post-comiskular field designs. i dunno, this just seems like such a bizarre quality to latch on to, considering all of the other elements that make wrigley field unique.

"you know son, one of the great things about wrigley field is that it faces the northeast. really unique"

"dad, that's the most [expletive] thing i have ever heard. and i'm 8"

Yea, it is. I love that stadium.

Left Field - 330 feet (101 m)
Medium Left-Center - 360 feet (110 m)
True Left-Center - 375 feet (114 m)
Center Field - 400 feet (122 m)*
True Right-Center - 375 feet (114 m)
Medium Right-Center - 360 feet (110 m)
Right Field - 330 feet (101 m)
Backstop - 55 feet (17 m)

I'm wasn't referring to the field dimensions. The architecture is very symmetrical and that is part of it's charm more than the few feet of differences on the field. Just my opinion. I hope it looks great.

Has anyone actually looked up Wrigleys dimensions? Turns out, it's pretty damn symmetrical

Left Field - 355 ft (108.2 m)
Left-Center Field - 368 ft (112.2 m)
Center Field - 400 ft (121.9 m)
Right-Center Field - 368 ft (112.2 m)
Right Field - 353 ft

Idk, seems like such a stupid argument to be having.

You wanna talk symmetrical? Look at where the scoreboard is relative to center field. Most people think its supposed to align with dead Center but that's not the case.

This is the sort of asymmetry I was talking about.

And the well is a different shape in LF than RF.

And there is more foul territory along 1B than 3B.

And the side wall rises differently along the LF foulline than RF.

And there are fewer bleachers in LF than RF. (Not sure this is so much true after the renovation.)

RF has the knothole and LF doesn't.

Symmetrical is about the last word I'd use to describe Wrigley. The grandstands are. Not much else though.
