Not sure if this is OK to talk about since the season is still going for a couple teams, but I'm looking to deal soon after the season ends.

Edwin Encarnacion will be available. 6th highest scoring hitter this season. Eligible at 3B and 1B

Adrian Gonzalez will be available. Eligible at 1B and OF. In a down year for him, still going to finish top 30 for hitters.

Chase Headley. Huge season (10th highest scoring bat) in Petco. Possible to get traded to anywhere, which will be more hitter friendly.

One of Adam Wainwright or Zach Greinke will be available. Wainwright is another top 30 at his position, coming off of a season off so could be better next year. Greinke has even better stats and has the opportunity to go anywhere he wants this offseason as a FA.

For those not able to take on many points...Troy Tulowitzki could be available. 150 points this year. Perennial top 2 scoring SS. Would take an exempt player, good prospect or high pick to get him as I can easily fit him into my points cap.

I've got 424 points I'm keeping. Everyone else with points is going.

Even at that, I have way too many good exempt players. Can't keep them all. Extra draft picks, too.

Dickey is available for the right price

You have the most natural core of keepers ever. Cano, Mauer, Cutch + Votto = 1981 points. Add in Chapman and you're looking to fill the roster with more exempt guys, I would guess.

"the right price" presumably being anything. i'd be baffled if anyone decides to use 36% of their allotted keeper points on a 37 year old pitcher coming off an extreme career year.

I would agree, except for the knuckleball.

Niese and Montero are both exempt.

Can I get some help on a question? How does a guy like Rosenthal fit as a keeper? He pitched in more than 10 games, all out of the bullpen, but could well start next year in the minors again. So do I keep him in the minors? What if he actually starts in the majors? Same with BJax, who could well end up in Iowa to start next year. Do I have to roll the dice and hope I'm right with where these guys start the year?

My understanding is if they are eligible for minors under RK rules u can put them in the minors. U can also keep them there the next year until they go over the threshold of rookieness.

If they qualify for the minors, they can be kept in the minors and not count against the 10 roster spots for the majors. However, the threshold for losing a year of exemptions is more strict.

rosenthal is eligible to be kept on your minor league roster since he had fewer than 10 starts/25 appearances.

same with jackson, who didn't exceed 200 ab's.

you can keep both on your minor league roster until they exceed the limits.

but we'll give them some time. no trades until we get a better idea as to who is coming back. keepers aren't due until february.
