Has to be Adbert Alzolay right?
I'm excited about the additions of Nico and Giambrone. They must have high confidence in Nico to be sending him there.
D.J. Wilson? Really?

Re: 2018 AFL Rosters
I think Wilson is the perfect OFer from our system to get the nod. He's got upside(unlike most of our full season OFers) and could put himself on the map if he flashes enough tools.
The Red Sox got 8 guys, Oakland got 7, Detroitgot 6, while the Angels and us took 4. No idea if we add pitching via the taxi squad or not. But, it seems like we should get an extra guy or 2 anyway.

Additional rule: you have to have one or the other. The only exception is you have an amazing board name. davell, I'm looking at you; put up a [expletive] avatar or something if your name only sounds like somebody tried say Dave as they lapsed into a coma.

Oh duh, Wilson makes sense for the AZL with all those lost reps

Gotta save a spot for Yu Darvish in the NLCS to get some pre-world series innings.

The Cubs are required to send at least 7 but since they are required to send 4 pitchers, they’ll actually send 8.

I think Justin Steele has to be one of the pitchers the Cubs send right? He only has like 40 innings pitched in the minors so far.

Re: 2018 AFL Rosters
For anyone who was momentarily curious like me, players with 1+ years of service time are not eligible, so they couldn't send Smyly to get some innings leading into next year.

Re: 2018 AFL Rosters
I wouldn't read too much into Hoerner getting sent there, other than the fact that they wanted him to get in some work. I mean, I'm sure they are confident in him, but I feel like this is more a nod towards getting work in for the lost time.

Re: 2018 AFL Rosters
Patrick Mooney had a piece in the Athletic on the state of the Cubs' system and in it, mentioned that Justin Steele will be going to the AFL.

Yeah, I hope he performs there and dominates. I was down on him, but he's really bounced back well.

Good. Glad to see. Surprised on Pereda though, with Higgins already going. Time for Steele and Clark to create some buzz though.....

It does indeed. I believe in 5 days or so. I'm curious about reports on Steele, Hoerner and Pereda.
----
I've been watching a lot of Hoerner and he's got great hands/strong wrists. He's very "handsy" as a hitter as scouts say. Problem with that approach is you might not hit for power that way...
I think that's partially why he didn't hit for a lot of power in college.
Not sure. Maybe it's his approach as well? I don't want the Cubs to mess with his swing until it's necessary. Maybe do the same thing with him as they did with Bote. Higher launch angle and that stuff, but it's too early to know if that's needed.
I really like him and think he'll finish as our top prospect by the end of the 2019 season.
EDIT: The AFL starts next week.

Nope. I mean it's pretty easy to remember I said this.
Not a big claim or something. If I said Jeremy Estrada will be our top prospect by the end of 2019 then that's a pretty damn bold statement lol.
It's pretty easy to imagine Nico will be our top prospect next year. Easy call honestly.

Not a difficult argument to make that Hoerner is our top prospect today, never mind 12 months from now.

it was really just a joke about regular show bragging about calling things like a year later in the minor league forum. it was in jest

I don't think I bragged about anything in the minor league forum... I talked about Baez, but that wasn't in the minor league forum.
I do remember making fun of you for liking Jen-Ho Tseng and how he wouldn't amount to much.
Well, I won't be "bragging" about some claim or prediction (even when I'm right) I made anymore. I'm afraid of a certain someone wanting to choke me out and/or accuse me of tooting my own in horn in a sexually explicit way.
Not worth the trouble.
PS -- I'm going to be totally right about Nico next year lol.

By this time next year I think we are going to be having some fun arguments about how to order the top 3 of Amaya, Hoerner and Roederer. Hopefully Adbert is graduated.
