I'm in the process of re-watching Breaking Bad. I flipped on the Full Measure episode last night before I went to sleep when we were still down 2-0. Had no idea any of the rest happened.

it would actually be really fun if the only posters in this thread once the game starts are Vinestal and Rondon Fan.

That would be fun but I've got stuff to do. Looks like you guys don't need any help with the negativity anyway.

I'm going to spend my last few hours in Vancouver and then go sit (and probably drink) at the airport and then fly through the sky in the middle of the night starting at 1030 pm pst and then land in Kansas City at 930 am and then be a zombie for the rest of my life

I have no choice, I have to hold babies all night when I'm home so its either watch the game or stare at the wall. I can't watch a TV show or something that I need undivided attention for because they are too fussy.

Don't envy me too much.

So the wall it is, then.

The Cubs will rise to the occasion and dongs will be whipped out left and right. They have Pittsburgh's number and the number is bow down.

So the Cubs will have a few hours Friday to get ready for the Pirates in their final series of the first half. The Cubs could’ve scheduled a day game for the makeup against the Braves, but the business operations department decided to schedule it at night for television ratings.

Thus, the Cubs took a 1:30 a.m. bus to O'Hare for the flight to Pittsburgh and would arrive just before sunrise, ensuring Friday’s starter, Jake Arrieta, would get only a few hours of sleep before his start.

That's lame. Thanks business ops

Coffee is for closers and business class is for winners. Cubs should have taken the bus the entire way and force Arrieta to hitchhike.

I feel like a dominant Jake start could help him get the ASG starting nod.

Kershaw is out, Bumgarner is pitching Sunday and out. Collins could either pick his guy Syndergaard but if he's smart he'd avoid playing him altogether.

That leaves Jake, Jose Fernandez, Cueto or Strasburg (I just don't see Lester, Colon or Teheran earning the nod).

I believe Cueto was the last player picked by Collins so if the players vote influences his decision it would be one of the other 3. Given the players voted early in the season, Jake probably finished 1st or 2nd in the vote, plus he's the reigning Cy Young winner so that maybe holds so value.

Going against Jake is that a) his struggles are starting to be noticed nationally, b) Collins might go another direction to avoid 6 Cubs starters, c) Collins has seen Jake twice in the last 8 months and Jake wasn't sharp either time

With Rondon sucking and Arrieta incapable of pitching more than a couple of innings, we may have to make him the closer.

With Joe hollering obscenities at them the entire team, BECAUSE IT INSPIRES WINNERS AND WINNING AND WINNING WINNERS.

I am liking how casual Heyward in CF is becoming in Fowler's absence. OTOH, he should start hitting

otoh he has not graded out well there this year at all

i'd much rather see almora in there, esp vs the lhp

One thing I've come to notice is that I look at defensive stats very, very different from other posters here. I don't believe in single season sample sizes for defense, let alone chunks of a single season getting extrapolated out with the /150 stat. The developer of UZR stated 2+ seasons, big and multi year samples, so I lean heavily in that direction. Thrown in that his UZR is all of -.4 anyway, he makes the routine plays, and I can't sweat the small stuff. Overall as a ML he's done well out there, I trust and belee in that now and moving forward.

well it's not like i don't think he's competent. i just mentioned he hasn't graded out well.

between that and his hitting, liriano, and the fact that almora has looked amazing in the field, i'd rather see him playing tonight.
