Russell is for sure gone now ain’t he? The team barely plays him, he’s been awful, Javy has taken his spot without question.

All the Cubs accomplished by keeping him on board was to hurt their credibility with fans, further crater his trade value, and allow him to cost us a handful of games. Good stuff.

I can't believe he'll be back. He's made a complete ass of himself and Hoerner is no worse than he is. He's also cheaper, which should speak to PTR's sensibilities.

How about sending him to Boston for Jackie Jr.? Both are provide above average defense at a quality position, both are capable of above average offense.

Not a bad idea to dump Russell, but there is a big difference in salary too. I think the Red Sox would have to sweeten the pot a little (prospect/money).

He won't be missed. Putting aside the fact that he's an awful human being, he put up just 6.6 fWAR in 4 seasons, 3.8 of which was in 2018. He just wasn't very good

That's pretty good lol.

I don't know why Theo felt the need to make such a lengthy statement over non-tendering Addison Russell...

I’m sure he’ll land on his feet someplace where character (or lack there of) isn’t an issue. Are the Astros in the market for a middle infielder?

Yeah but unfortunately for Addison, the Astros only want bad character guys who are actually good at baseball.

Can we get the people that do those deep fake videos to edit Javy over him for the home runs in Dodger Stadium in the NLCS and the World Series Game 6 hits and we can forget he ever existed?

I’m so glad the Cubs management decided to give this piece of garbage an extra year of to suck and malign the fan base.

2019 was so much like 2009-2010 it’s crazy

To butter him up to accept a much lower base salary in 2020.

Cubs fans still tripping over themselves to defend this guy, even as he’s shown the door

The Venn diagram of fans who defend Russell but hate Kaepernick must be close to a single circle

I'm on a University of Illinois message board - cleverly disguising myself by using the exact same user name - and there's one guy who is talking about how great it is that Kendrick Nunn (former U of I basketball player, kicked off the team after pleading guilty to domestic battery) is getting a shot in the NBA, while simultaneously saying in a different thread that Kaepernick should never be in the NFL again.

Sample size of one I know, but those people are out there.

Unless I am mistaken, Derwood is saying ALL Nunn/Addi supporters are also Kaep haters. I claim there are too many straight-ticket racists for that to be true.
