I think he’s legitimately available and they’ll try and move him. He’s more likely to stay than not, just because to move a guy like him is hard and takes circumstances. But I’d bet the plus odds he’s moved if they’re like +1500.

I can't picture the FO trading Bryant while switching to a new network unless they're getting back another superstar (Betts, Lindor, etc.) in the trade.

I think it's a situation where they're open to trading him if a crazy good deal came their way....but that's not likely to happen, and they know it. I DO, however, think horsefeathers like that is mainly laying the ground for how there's essentially zero chance to re-sign him.

They basically can't properly value him for trade until his service time dispute is resolved. They can't wait for that to happen to decide what to do this off-season. That makes it highly unlikely that he's traded.

Agreed, trading Bryant is the conclusion that dim-witted reporters draw to generalized 'no one is untouchable' and 'there's gonna be big changes' statements, and given the time of year means Theo isn't going to say 'no you idiots' about any move, plus the dim-witted reporter echo chamber it repeats itself into a Serious Trade Rumor (tm).

There must be a lot of people not renewing their season tickets this winter because I'm getting calls again about my name coming up on the Season Ticket Waiting List. I put my name down in like 2007, got a bunch of calls around 2011-2014, nothing since 2015 until now.

Your current place on the waiting list: 32955

I am screaming up the list. Seems I was around 50000 a year or 2 ago.

I was told to expect my renewal details in the mail at some point this week...interested to see what they do with the prices, if anything. I made sure to get my playoff money refunded rather than carried forward this time. Still leaning towards renewing, but...not a sure thing.

I have been curious about this, just as a fun topic and interested to hear if others would scoff at this.

Taking into account service time and arbitration contracts, etc., would you trade any two Cubs players for Juan Soto? Which I guess would mean would you trade KB and Javy for Soto?

I'm thinking people are saying, 'Oh, hell no?'

I would be intrigued. Of course, only if that means we weren't going to pocket the money and not use the savings.

Not saying it will happen, but the Cubs coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series does seem like the appropriate way to cap off this season and make the 30-for-30 even better.

Looks like I'm 29,000 now. Checking through emails I was 44,000 when they emailed in April 2017, so yeah they're burning through people real quick

I signed up in 2010 and was told to expect the call in February a few weeks ago. Currently scheming with BIL and others to see if we want to all go in and make it happen.

I just moved into an apartment 7 blocks from Wrigley and I'm 32,000+ in line, so... you lucky few who are getting your number called, if you're ever out of luck on getting rid of a ticket I'd be happy to take them off your hands.

Steamer Projections came out on Fangraphs today, and they're mostly pretty generous. A few notable things I see:

- Steamer HATES Willson. Absolutely despises him. only projecting for 1.3 WAR. Doesn't even like his bat that much
- Steamer also doesn't like Bote or Happ very much, and considering those are supposed to be the fewgood parts of the bench that's obviously an indictment of the depth overall
- Steamer is very generous to the bullpen, basically viewing it as an average unit right now before we add anyone
- While not amazing, the rotation still projects as a top 10 unit
- Overall the FG depth charts currently have the Cubs 6-7 wins better than the Cards, and 8-9 better than the Reds and Brewers

How did Steamer do last year? (Projections vs results)

I must have missed this when it happened. But everything is going great, nothing to see here. Just a guy from the [expletive] Browns overseeing the organizational change and restructuring.

“The Cubs foreshadowed some of these changes last January when they hired Adam Beard from the Cleveland Browns to be their “director of high performance.” In the press release announcing the move, the Cubs said Beard would “be responsible for overseeing the integration and management of a collaborative approach to all aspects of training, conditioning, mental skills, nutrition, sport science and beyond.

It took less than a full year for Beard to assess the situation and determine the Cubs had fallen behind in certain areas. The Cubs expected Beard to be a disruptor and braced for some pushback within the organization.”

Average seems fair. They have a pretty good setup considering the offseason just started - definite and established closer (even throwing in coming off a terrible year) with a very high ceiling, a couple younger MRs coming off career best seasons possibly SU/high leverage potential but only possibly, and a pool of guys who if you squint and are optimistic af could be good if this and that happens or doesn't happen...Outside of the Yankees it's not like there's a whole lot of teams rolling out crazy deep bullpens so just having Kimbrel's a really good start let alone a quantity of cheap playable (and tradeable) depth

I like the rotation. They're one guy away from making Jon Lester a possible regular season 5th starter, which would make me lover the rotation. Darvish and Hendricks are a really good duo up with Darvish possibly ready to have a little renaissance and become a way cooler personality version of Curt Schilling. Quintana closed his season strong (54 IP / 54 Ks / 11 BBs / 5 HRs)....

I happened to stumble on this today and my wife has wanted a Cubs zip hoodie for some time. It was part of the sale, so that's one Christmas present checked off.
