Leonard Floyd's very big (13M) 5th year extension was picked up. Looks like about 1/5 of the 2020 cap will be Mack and Floyd. Right before Trubisky gets expensive in 2021 as well.

Mitch came out as slightly anti-deep dish, saying its overrated and preferring thin because you can eat more. Which is true.

also

- Nacho cheese Doritos over cool ranch [FALSE]
- Pizza rolls over bagel bites [TRUE]
- Trubisky prefers his steaks medium: “You’re not allowed to put anything on a steak” [perfectly fine take]
- Water is the best drink in the history of drinks [WEIRD TAKE]
- It’s called “pop” not “soda” [TRUE]
- A hot dog is not a sandwich, it’s a hot dog [true, but this was never a thing I cared about]
- The only thing he puts on his hot dogs is ketchup [perfectly fine take]

Ryan Pace hates the draft.

Must be why he's traded away another pick for a kicker from Oakland. A 7th rounder, sure, but still a pick.

Conditional pick. Has to be on the active roster for 5 games.

I haven't found a decent future draft pick website.

But as far as I can tell the Bears have 2 2nd rounders in 2020, no 1st, 3rd or 4th, and then anywhere from 1 - 3 5ths. 1 - 2 6ths, and 1 7th.
And then 2021 is intact besides this conditional 7th.

They will likely get a pick back for Amos. OTC currently predicting a 4th. Early in the offseason they had a 5th for Callahan too, but someone got pulled from the credits ledger I guess.

Why do I feel like the Bears are both overaddressing and underaddressing their kicking issues?

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

This one is good. I thought we had a compensatory 4th for Amos and a 5th for Callahan, too, but it looks like the CLinton-Dix signing negated that pick.

https://overthecap.com/compensatory-dra ... ion-chart/

So yeah, 2 (Oak), 2, 5Cond (Oak), 5, 5Comp, 5/6 (Phi), 6, 7, for 2020

Yeah, it could be better.

Just glancing at Oakland's schedule I see them winning maybe 5 games this season. A top 40 pick is near certain with their 2. That's high enough to get a first round caliber player. Their fifth would be like a fourth rounder using the same logic. Still start with 7 picks min. The Amos pick is a 4th rd comp, not 5th that i listed in the last post, so it's

2 OAK
2 CHI
4 COMP
5 OAK (conditional)
5 CHI
5/6 PHI
6 CHI
7 CHI

It's going to be glorious if that 2nd first rounder in the Mack trade ends up being actually a trade back of 5ish spots.

Pace doesn't really think like that. He'll probably try to get into the 1st or something.

I think Brian was saying that it would be amazing if the Bears first rounder they gave up was something like pick #32 and the pick they receive from OAK was #37 or so. It wouldn’t be that we gave up two first round picks for Mack, just a first and move back a couple spots.

The Bears pick could be 32, but if that Oak pick is like 53, there's still gonna be some meatballs saying Pace lost that trade right?

That trade? No, I don't think so. I think most people are still hung up on the weird decision to trade up for Trubisky.

Ah thank you for the clarification. For the record I hope he does trade back. There likely won't be a huge difference in the quality of the players available.

My guess at the 53:

QB- Trubisky, Daniel (2)
RB- Cohen, Davis, Montgomery*, Whyte* (4)
TE- Burton, Shaheen, Braunecker, Raymond# (4)
WRx- Robinson, Wims (2)
WRz Gabriel, Ridley*, E. Hall# (3)
Slot- Miller, Patterson, M. Hall (3)
LT- Leno, Sowell (2)
LG- Daniels, Bars# (2)
C- Whitehair (1)
RG- Long, Larsen (2)
RT- Massie (1)

DE- Hicks, Bullard (2)
NT- Goldman (1)
DE- Nichols, RRH (2)
OLB- Mack, Irving (2)
ILB- Smith, Iyiegbuniwe (2)
ILB- Trevathan, Pierre-Louis (2)
OLB- Floyd, Lynch, Harris# (3)
CB- Fuller, Denmark* (3)
CB- Amukimara, Tolliver (2)
NB- Skrine, Shelley* (2)
SS- Clinton-Dix, Bush (2)
FS- Jackson, Houston-Carson (2)

P- O'Donnell (1)
LS- Scales (1)
K- Pineiro (1)

I cut Kwiatkoski, Coward, McManis, and Fitts as the "big" names. I think Kwit (along with Bullard) could be guys that get traded toward the end of camp. Probably need a DL to step up. But Bullard is expendable either way with 4 strong players ahead of him on the DL, he's also a FA after the year. Getting that conditional 7th back would be nice. Kwiatkoski is a 2 million dollar backup, who's also a FA after the year. The bears signed Kevin Pierre-Louis this week, who is a decent, possibly better special teams player who can backup ILB (though not as well). Maybe Kwit can be traded for someone at another more useful position.

The Bears have signed, drafted, and/or traded for lots of players that I wanted to be Jets in recent years: Burton, Daniels, Mack, Anthony Miller, David Montgomery, C. Patterson, Whitehair, Tolliver, and Ridley. There’s a rumor the Jets are going after some guy named Champ Kelly, ally of Gase and current Bears asst direction of player personnel, for the GM gig. Is this guy THE guy to poach?
