The Spiders were a different team altogether. They were an NL team.

The Cleveland AL team was only ever:

Naps
Broncos
Lake Shores
Bluebirds
Rustlers

those names suck, if they pick one of them they deserve to never play in the WS again

The Cleveland Spiders sounds like an XFL team. I do not get the support

Oh and it's so cool when teams are named after birds and widdle baby mammals.

Apparently they're announcing, or at least leaking, the name tomorrow and it's going to be the Guardians, which is really boring and bland.

That... can't possibly be the name. How in the hell do you market that?

Seems super lame, but at least there is a local factor to it I guess.

The Spiders with an awesome C Spider logo would have been dope though.

Yes, an old post. But felt the need to state that Kraken was dope from the beginning.

Spiders was right there for the taking. They blew it!

Guardians sounds like the name of a team that the Sharks would have played in Any Given Sunday

People keep saying this, but the Indians were never the Spiders. The Spiders were a short-lived 19th century team

So? It was a Cleveland team and most of the logo mockups were sick.

Count me as another vote for Spiders. The logos would've been sweet, it would've been a cool mascot that's all their own and it had historical ties. It was perfect. So of course they went with something incredibly boring.
