Mine was Birds of Prey in February, in the midst of the last trip I took involving plane travel.

Went and saw Mr Rogers Neighborhood in November a couple days before our son was born. Not quite the standard date movie, but at full term we were just in 'pass the time' mode.

Wouldn't trade those first few months for anything in the world, but also it felt like right as we were settling some sort of a schedule and we could become normal people again, COVID shut everything down. So it's been a while. But, got my first shot yesterday and hoping now we can just count weeks, not months.

For the genre, I'll take it

Without seeing the movie, 113 minutes is longer than I expected. The original was a loaded 97 minutes, holds up alright

I'm afraid I won't understand the motivations of a giant gorilla vs a giant lizard if I haven't seen the preceding movies though!

But for real, watch Kong: Skull Island if you haven't. It's a horsefeathering blast, and it rules.

its by far the best of the bunch

KKvG is really fun. tonally it's similar to king of the monsters (lets make crazy horsefeathers happen that makes no sense every other scene) but the movie seems like it ... believes in itself? And it pulls it off. In King of the monsters it always felt like they were trying to find sorta rational explanations for all the weird horsefeathers in the movie. this one doesn't even bother with it. it's fun.

I will absolutely take Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig making all the Knives Out sequels they can convince people to make

I feel like that entire movie was largely a set up for the "nazi child" line, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

I have to disagree that the movie was a set up for a line so forgettable I don't remember it and it doesn't show up in any lists of memorable lines from the movie.

I would agree, though, if the entire movie was a setup for the "You did this" line.

Isn't it basically a "let's all just forget that first one happened" reboot?

Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis all basically reprised their roles as well.

It's basically more of a relaunch than a reboot?

Nope, it's a sequel. I'm guessing any mentions to the first one will be pretty jokey in nature though.

I guess it's hard to tell when I'm joking. But the funniest line of the movie, bar none, was when 007 was explaining the caper at the end.
